Thin Client Computing
Secure Application Deployment - Any application - Any time - Anywhere

Why thin-client computing meets the challenge of secure applications deployment.

Insite’s application deployment solution allows authorised users to access any application from any Internet enabled PC equipped with Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or any other popular web browser.

The solution consists of two component parts:

# The Windows ™ 2003 Terminal Server
# The AEP Netilla Security Platform

Reliable and secure access to mission critical applications is available to remote users or mobile workforces using either GPRS or ADSL connections.

New applications are swiftly deployed from a central Windows™ 2003 Server, avoiding the need to re-configure client software the user’s PC.

Where the management of sensitive information is a business concern, the AEP Netilla Security Platform provides encrypted communications between host and client to triple DES and AES standards making thin-client a highly secure environment.

The AEP Netilla Security Platform is a true clientless VPN solution that only requires a web browser to provide secure, encrypted remote access to applications.

Why Windows Server™ 2003?

Terminal Services in Microsoft's Windows Server 2003 provides new options for application deployment including efficient access to bandwidth hungry applications over low bandwidth connections, continued use of lower specification PC’s and laptops, and efficient support of remote users.

Windows™ Terminal Server Benefits

Benefit Description
Rapid, Centralized Deployment of Applications Terminal Server is the best solution for rapidly deploying Windows- based applications to computing devices across an enterprise— especially applications that are frequently updated, infrequently used, or hard to manage. When an application is managed on Terminal Server, and not on each device, administrators can be certain that users are running the latest version of the application.
Low-bandwidth Access to Data Terminal Server considerably reduces the amount of network bandwidth required to access data remotely. Using Terminal Server to run an application over bandwidth-constrained connections, such as dial-up or shared WAN links, is very effective for remotely accessing and manipulating large amounts of data because only a screen view of the data is transmitted, rather than the data itself.
Business Critical Applications Anywhere Terminal Services allows users to access business critical applications anywhere from an Internet ready PC using Internet Explorer. This ensures that client software does not have to be installed or maintained on remote PCs & laptops

Support Efficiencies

Centralising the computing infrastructure creates efficiencies in the support function, as all applications are managed from the data centre and client devices do not require the same degree of regular maintenance or end-user visits to deal with software configuration, installation or deployment. · Deploy and manage applications from a central site and over low-cost, low-bandwidth links · Stop visiting remote offices for problem resolution · Stop visiting remote offices for new application rollout

Cost Effective & Up-to Date Computing

Application deployment using Terminal Services can reduce many of the costs associated with workstation security while simultaneously maximising investments in bandwidth and client hardware.

These older systems, can, through Remote Access, Terminal Server technology, run many of the latest applications without the need to reconfigure or upgrade the systems involved.
